Congratulations Ian and Alex

What an event!
I had been looking forward to the wedding of my half‑brother, Ian, and his fiancée, Alex, for months. From the moment they announced their plans, it was clear this wasn’t going to be an ordinary celebration. They had envisioned something spectacular, something memorable, something uniquely them — and it absolutely lived up to every expectation.
The legal ceremony took place a week earlier at a small registry office in Manchester, where they live. It was intimate and understated, just close family gathered to witness the official “I do.” Even though it was simple, there was something lovely about seeing them take that first step in such a personal setting. But everyone knew the real festivities were still to come: the big celebration in Santorini, Greece.
Having never been to Greece before, I was doubly excited — not only to celebrate the wedding, but also to explore a new country. There’s something special about combining a major family milestone with travel; it makes the memories feel even richer. I couldn’t wait to soak in the scenery, the food, the sunshine, and of course, the company of family and all of Ian and Alex’s friends.
Nothing could have prepared me for the venue. Perched high on the cliffs overlooking the caldera — the dramatic remains of an ancient volcanic crater — it felt like stepping into a postcard. Whitewashed walls, endless blue sky, and the Aegean Sea stretching out in every direction. The kind of place where every photo looks like it belongs in a travel magazine.
And then there were the bride and groom. They looked absolutely fantastic — radiant, relaxed, and completely in their element. There’s something magical about seeing two people so clearly happy and surrounded by everyone who loves them. The ceremony was emotional, the speeches heartfelt, and the atmosphere full of warmth and joy.
If you want to see more of the day, the wedding photos can be found here, including a preview of some of the official shots. They capture the beauty of the venue, the energy of the celebration, and the love between Ian and Alex far better than words ever could.
